Hubrecht Organoid Technology (HUB) is a fast-growing biotech company, founded on the pioneering work of Prof. Dr. Hans Clevers who discovered methods to grow stem cell-derived human epithelial “mini-organs” (organoids) from tissues of patients with various diseases including cancer, cystic fibrosis or inflammatory diseases. HUB provides preclinical drug development services and research collaboration for and with pharma industry. HUBs research is aimed at the expansion of the Organoid Technology platform by developing new disease models, generation of comprehensive living biobanks of well-characterized organoids and developing assays for drug development and validation. Finally,  Organoid Technology enables predictive diagnostics and clinical patient stratification.

We are seeking a Scientist for the Disease Modelling & Toxicology Department (1FTE/ 40 hrs) with deep intellectual curiosity and creativity,  who embraces new challenges.

Scope of position:

A scientist at HUB supports research & development as well as service contract projects, commissioned by pharmaceutical industries. This position allows you to drive state-of-the-art research with the aim to develop innovative applications for Organoid Technology. As a scientist at HUB, you will be working with the top researchers in the field of adult stem cells and 3D culture. You  interact with external parties and present novel findings at (inter)national scientific meetings. The successful candidate will apply Organoid Technology in collaboration with the world leader biotech industry to improve human health by providing patients with novel treatments.


Suitable candidates have a PhD in the field of Life Science with research background in epithelial and stem cell biology, preferably in kidney and lung developmental biology.

Next to the above, the following requirements are met:

  • Laboratory-based experience in cell biology, cell culture and assay development,
  • Outstanding skills in cell analytical methods, which include flow cytometry, imaging, genomic and transcriptomic data analysis and interpretation,
  • Proven track record in independently designing and executing  experiments,
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills,
  • Project management skills including initiation and coordination of projects in the context of research & development as well as service contract applications are a plus.
